The market town of Kings

*FAVERSHAM

With over 400 listed buildings this Cinque Port town still has a clear route back to its past. Recorded in the Doomsday Book it has had strong links to royalty for over a thousand years. It has one of the finest medieval streets in Britain, the oldest brewery in the country and one of the thirteen Magna Carta’s in existence on display in a new purpose built exhibition space.

With it’s own cinema, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, theatre and more than its fair share of pubs and independent shops Faversham has more than enough to keep you entertained. Forming one corner of the East Kent Food Triangle with Canterbury and Whitstable the others , you can enjoy acclaimed restaurants, fishmongers and cheesemakers.

What is truly remarkable about this fabulous little town is the What’s on. There are markets, festivals for literature, art, classic vehicles, boats, food and of course the largest outdoor free music festival in EuropThe Hop Festival. There are also Open gardens and houses weekends, theatre in fabulous English Country Houses and the unique and beautiful sight of Thames Barges racing in the Swale match on a summers day.
